The Munroe Tavern, owned by the Lexington Historical Society, was used by a field hospital by the British during their retreat from the battles of Lexington and Concord. Rykerson Architecture was retained to produce the Historic Structure Report and design restoration of the building as well as a new archival storage addition and program space. A full archeological survey of the site was done and the result is one of the few 18th century house museums with full handicapped access.
