This island house is on a fantastic setting in Penobscot Bay. Originally from the mid 1800′s, the post and beam house was deteriorating and had a series of unsightly additions. Over a three year period, additions were demolished, the house preserved with new sills and new hand-laid granite foundations were built, due to the transportation difficulties for concrete. New chimneys, a redesign of the link to the shed, and new windows and window design resulted in a renovated house published in ‘FineHomebuilding’ 1995.
